Sapperton Neighbourhood Networking Night a big success #newwest

It was a rainy, cool and dreary night, but that didn\’t stop a great crowd from showing up at the home of Danielle and Trevor Connelly for our latest Neighbourhood Networking Night. Those in attendance were able to meet members of the Board of Directors and hear from both Vice-President Connelly and President Daniel Fontaine regarding how the NWP plans to run a slate of candidates in the October civic election.

\”This was a great opportunity to meet with local residents from Sapperton to hear their concerns and suggestions on how we can bring new ideas and balance back to city council and our school board,\” says Fontaine. \”We covered a range of topics including traffic and transportation, the Pattullo Bridge replacement and how to manage increased density.\”

The NWP has been holding a series of networking nights with the next one planned for the West End. The inaugural event in Queen\’s Park attracted over 75 people.

\”We are in the midst of a candidate recruitment drive and are using this as an opportunity to listen to what local residents believe should be our top priorities in the upcoming election,\” says Fontaine. \”Each neighbourhood is unique and has its own challenges and opportunities. However, one message has been consistent.  People are looking for a positive  and progressive alternative and they want change when it comes to our council and school board.\”

The NWP is also organizing a major Mix and Mingle FUNraiser on Saturday, April 28th from 7-11 pm. Over half of the tickets are already sold and we are expecting a full house for this special event. The formal program will include a few \”special announcements\” with a number of potential candidates expected to be on-hand to meet and greet those in attendance.
