It was a warm summer evening when almost 50 people attended a special fundraising event hosted by NW Progressive school trustee candidates Danielle Connelly and Cyrus Sy. The event attracted people from across the city who are looking for change and have a keen interest in supporting two quality candidates running for school board.
New Westminster school trustees Jonina Campbell and Casey Cook also made a special appearance at the fundraiser. In addition, Daniel Fontaine, candidate for city council, also spoke at the event.
Earlier in the day the NW Progressives made headlines in the Record newspaper with the introduction of our \’Fun City\’ initiative. A feature story highlighted key components of the council election platform which includes increasing the number of patio spaces in the city by 25% and modernizing our liquor laws to allow the consumption of a glass of wine at Pier Park – without having to first obtain a city permit.
\”As a former police officer, I know we need to take a more balanced approach when it comes to relaxing our liquor laws in the city,\” said council candidate Paul McNamara to the Record. \”However, I\’m convinced our phased approach will help to demonstrate that we can introduce more progressive policies that help to build our brand through the region as a fun place to live work and play.\”
