After establishing a Candidate Recruitment Committee last spring, the New West Progressives have been busy over the last several months interviewing a number of prospective candidates. The committee is chaired by Vice-President Celia Marto and there are currently plans to make recommendations to the Board regarding potential candidates as early as late January.
\”We\’ve been very fortunate to have met with some excellent community representatives over the fall,\” says Marto. \”There is a heightened interest in civic politics in New Westminster these days and that has directly translated into more emails and inquiries from potential candidates.\”
Potential candidates are being encouraged to submit their applications prior to February 28th in order that they can be reviewed by the Board of Directors in time for the nomination meeting which is tentatively scheduled for May 26, 2022. The NWP is looking for a diverse slate of candidates from across the city who are committed to working together to help make New Westminster an even better place to live, work and play.
\”We\’re looking for people who reflect the diversity of our citizenry and neighbourhoods and who are committed to supporting progress in our city. I\’m encouraging anyone interested in wanting to learn more about the process to reach out to me to set up a time to chat.\”
Potential candidates wanting more information about the candidate recruitment process can contact the NWP at info@nwprogressives.ca or send us a DM via our social media channels. The NWP advertised online at the Record and via social media last fall as part of its candidate recruitment strategy.
