Lifelong Royal City resident Brian Goss elected President of New West Progressives

The New West Progressives Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Brian Goss has been elected as its new president. Goss takes over from Daniel Fontaine who will now serve as Past President.

\”I want to thank Daniel for all the work he has done over the last four years to keep the NWP moving forward and getting us prepared for the 2022 election,\” says Goss. \”I\’m glad he intends to stay actively involved and will be supporting our team over the coming months.\”

\”I know that Brian will do an amazing job in his new role given his past experience in politics and his dedication to our community,\” says Fontaine. \”Our Board has been very active over the last four years and Brian has been supportive through this entire time.  I know he will provide the leadership we need to help get even more NWP candidates elected this fall.\”

Goss was born in New Westminster. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Secondary Education and holds an Associate Certificate in Financial Planning from BCIT. From 1969 to 1973 Goss was a teacher at Queen Elizabeth Senior Secondary Schooling in Surrey BC. In 1973 he became a sale representative for a clothing manufacturer in Vancouver and later became Director of Operations for the firm. Goss later became involved in the financial planning profession in 1993. He was senior financial planner and President of Balanced Financial Services from 1998 to 2005. Brian joined Integrated Planning Group in 2005 and specialized in wealth management, retirement planning, pension options and job severance.

After he retired in 2010, he became a level 1 Sommelier and joined Pacific Wine and Spirits as a professional wine taster. In 2013 he became President of the Liberal Party of Canada for the federal riding of New Westminster – Burnaby. He held this position until 2021. Brian joined the New Westminster Progressive Electors Coalition in 2019 and was elected to the Board of Directors last year.
