Work with stakeholders (community, provincial, federal) to advocate for adequate funding to support the mental health of our students; recognizing the foundational connection that strong mental health brings to school safety, inclusion, positive learning environments, and the well-being of our children.
Continue to advocate for funding to ensure students have timely access to learning assessments to adequately meet the need of all learners in our schools. This includes funding for more EAs, faster access to Psych Ed assessments, and more learning tools to support diverse learners in our schools.
Advocate for comprehensive and mandatory curriculum regarding personal relationships, consent education, and sexual health.
Commit to initiating an audit of physical fitness opportunities and supplies within the district, similar to the arts audit, to ensure equitable access, and identify emerging needs to help increase physical fitness and athletic opportunities as it is proven that physical activity is associated with improved cognitive performance among students
Continue to support arts programming and ensure students have access and exposure to the arts and arts programs.
Continue working on the district anti-racism initiatives to ensure our schools are inclusive and safe spaces for all students. Overall, we need to ensure all students and staff feel welcomed, safe, connected, and have a sense of belonging in their school.
Support and find ways to grow the district’s healthy meal program.
Work to support the district’s anti-bullying initiatives, including increasing support and tools to handle bullying, harassment, and personal safety.
