Councillor Daniel Fontaine was invited on the Mike Smyth Show this week to talk snow response and the lack of answers as to what happened to our transportation system on November 29, 2022 – aka Snowmaggedon!
Coun. Fontaine and Minhas brought a motion forward to New Westminster Council asking that it supports a request that Metro Vancouver hold a Snow Summit and bring the experts into one room to find out why our transportation infrastructure collapsed last year under the weight of a bit of snow.
“We still have so many questions and yet so few answers one year later,” says Fontaine. “Our motion in New West was meant to get the ball rolling and help to provide the hundreds of thousands of commuters who were impacted by that traffic gridlock at least a few answers as to why it happened. More importantly, it was meant to help prevent anything like this from ever happening again.” The motion was defeated 5-2 with all Community First representatives voting against.
