Councillor Paul Minhas wants to spearhead efforts to bring back the fireworks display for Canada Day in New West in 2025.
“Fireworks on Canada Day ignite the spirit of celebration, uniting communities in awe-inspiring displays. They symbolize our collective pride, freedom, and cultural diversity. The return of fireworks rekindles cherished traditions, creating lasting memories for all,” says Coun. Minhas.
“As Canadians, we take immense pride in our nation’s rich history and diverse culture. And what better way to celebrate our national identity than with a spectacular fireworks display on Canada Day? In recent years, the absence of fireworks has left a void in our celebrations, but it’s time to reignite the tradition and bring back the magic!”
“Fireworks have long been synonymous with Canada Day festivities, symbolizing unity, patriotism, and the spirit of our great nation. They bring communities together, creating a sense of joy, excitement, and shared experiences. Fireworks transcend language barriers and unite Canadians of all ages and backgrounds in a magical display of lights and colors.”
“Furthermore, the economic impact of fireworks cannot be overlooked. The return of fireworks to Canada Day celebrations in New West will provide a much-needed boost to local businesses, tourism, and the overall economy. It will attract visitors from near and far, creating opportunities for local vendors, hotels, restaurants, and other establishments.”
Minhas intends to bring a motion to Council asking staff to determine the sponsorship, funding and partnership opportunities available to bring back the annual Canada Day fireworks starting in 2025.
