On Saturday well over 110 people will be gathering at the Royal City Curling Club for the first major fundraiser being organized by the New West Progressives Electors Coalition. The Mix and Mingle event is intended to be a fun evening of networking and will include some special remarks from newly elected President David Halkett. There will also be as special dance lesson and performance by a local troupe of Peruvian dancers.
\”We\’ve been blown away by the community response to this event,\” says Halkett. \”The fact we were able to reach our target for ticket sales and sell out the event is a testimony to the fact that New West residents are looking for change and an alternative to the current council and school board.\”
The New West Progressives was launched in November 2017 and formed as a registered non-profit society earlier this year. The Board of Directors has set May 29th as the meeting date to announce an initial slate of candidates that will be running under the NWP banner. The meeting will be taking place at Centennial Lodge from 6-8 pm and you can register by clicking here.
\”It\’s been a lot of fun organizing the Mix and Mingler,\” says Lisa Falbo, Chair of the Organizing Committee. \”We\’ve held a number of neighbourhood forums over the last several months and being able to attract such a large number of residents to attend this event is a huge milestone for our grassroots organization. The fact so many people with different political backgrounds are supporting us is a testimony to the growing strength our coalition\”
