The Board of Directors for the New West Progressives Society has set Thursday, April 16th as the date for our next Annual General Meeting. Members of the NWP as well as the public are invited to attend.
\”The next civic election in 2022, so it\’s not that far around the corner,\” says NWP President Daniel Fontaine. \”Work has already begun by our Board and volunteers to prepare for the next election and we hope to update our members on some of those activities at the upcoming annual general meeting.\”
The NWP ran a slate of eight candidates in the 2018 civic election – four ran for council and four ran for school board positions – with Danielle Connelly getting elected as a School Trustee. Formed in the fall of 2017, New Westminster Progressive Electors Coalition is a citizen-based not-for-profit society committed to representing the interests of all New Westminster residents. The primary goal of the elector organization is to recruit a full slate of community-focused candidates to run in the upcoming civic election.
\”It\’s great to see even at this early stage a number of people have approached us to indicate they have an interest in running with the NWP in the next election. This is positive news and a great way to build on our success from the last election,\” says Fontaine. \”I\’m pleased where we\’re headed with our new strategic plan and I\’m confident we\’ll elect more NWP candidates in 2022 who can truly represent the interests of all citizens.\”
