Housing, Crime & Safety, and Infrastructure Deficit amongst Top Community Concerns for Upcoming Election

New Westminster (June 2, 2022):  Crumbling infrastructure. crime & safety and housing affordability are amongst the list of most frequently raised concerns heard by New West Progressives (NWP), through its online survey, town halls and on residents’ doorsteps.

“Residents and small businesses have spoken, and the message is clear. They want to be listened to,” says mayoral candidate Ken Armstrong. “Our community has spoken, and we are grateful for the lived stories shared with us. This is an ongoing commitment and what we hear will be reflected in our policy ideas and platform.”

Community amenities, such as sports fields, recreational programs for youth and seniors, along with the environment, economic revitalization, transportation & traffic management are other frequently referenced priorities. New Westminster residents can expect to see NWP candidates at their doors and future events as they continue to listen.

As summer approaches, the NWP team will be sharing its policy ideas and platform with residents. The New West Progressives are committed to focus on the City’s civic mandate and to offer solution-based ideas that will address residents’ priorities, starting with the basics.

On May 31, the New West Progressives (NWP) concluded its published survey, designed as one of many avenues to seek New Westminster residents’ opinions on issues important to them leading to this October\’s civic election.
