On November 17th the New West Progressive Electors Coalition launched the first of a series of videos intended to encourage a dialogue on social media. In only four days, the video has already been viewed in excess of 1,100 times on both Facebook and YouTube. It has also generated additional web traffic and volunteer inquiries.
\”We\’re thrilled with the public response,\” says Lisa Falbo, Vice-Chair of the Coalition and Volunteer Coordinator. \”We hope to release more of these on a wide range of topics in order to foster a broader community discussion regarding some important civic issues.\”
The Coalition steering committee will be meeting again in early December to continue planning a series of neighbourhood focused discussion sessions and community fundraising events. It has also now begun the process of establishing itself as a formal non-profit society.
\”There clearly is an appetite for change, new ideas and a more balanced approach in New Westminster,\” says Daniel Fontaine, Chair of the Coalition. \”People are telling us they are looking for a change in 2018 and we hope to provide them with that positive alternative.\”
