It was an interesting discussion that took place last week at City Council regarding a recent decision by Community First to quickly approve a new public toilet near the front entrance of the Interurban building.
NWP Councillors Daniel Fontaine and Paul Minhas voted against that location citing a number of reasons including the fact the residents at the Interurban had not been notified directly of the pending installation of the toilet. They were also concerned about the price tag for the new public toilet which is pegged at $650,000. This despite the fact there are no fewer than 7 publicly-owned and accessible toilets (2 of which are open 24/7) in and around the downtown/waterfront area.
Former Community First (now Independent) city councillor Nadine Nakagawa appeared on the Jas Johal Show to defend her decision to place the toilet adjacent to a downtown condominium. Click on the link below to hear the entire interview which as posted on our YouTube channel.
