With just a little over a year until the October 2022 civic election, the first major event for the New West Progressives (NWP) is a resounding success. The \”Path to 2022\” fundraiser is now sold out and is the first in a series of fundraising events planned for the coming months to help the NWP prepare for next year\’s civic election.
\”The response to our first major fundraising event has been incredible,\” says Celia Marto, Vice-President with the NWP. \”We set a target for sales and we exceeded that by a wide margin. It\’s great to see so much so support in our community from people looking for positive change at city hall and the school board.\”
\”The NWP is also busy filing official paperwork with Elections BC to register as a civic political organization in New Westminster,\” says Daniel Fontaine, President of the NWP. \”We\’re expecting the current \”Team\” of elected officials who govern this city will also be registering before the December 1st deadline set by Elections BC. After all, by their own admission, they are part of an unofficial elector organization. We hope they will finally do the right thing and file their papers and become open and transparent about how they operate.\”
The 2021 Annual General Meeting for the NWP is on November 23rd and the elector organization is in the midst of candidate recruitment. It is anticipated a nomination meeting will be set by the Board of Directors for sometime next spring.
